Gizz Ibanez Blazer Demo

Gizz made a video to demonstrate part 1 of a guitar which he plans to customise. The guitar was purchased at a snip, second hand and the intention is make it sound like it’s a £10,000 guitar! Demonstrating riffs from a Janus Stark song and comparing it to old favourite guitars and borrowed priceless instruments. See how it fares and should it be used on the next recordings?

London Calling TV Show 1999

London Calling TV Show 1999

What a find! Janus Stark performing “Victoria Falls”, an unreleased song, for the TV program London Calling. Filmed in London for the Japanese audience I believe! The line up of the band is interesting! Gizz on lead vocals and guitar, Shop has taken up a backing vocal position, Gav King is on bass guitar and Carl Alty on drums.

Shop had an injury at the Metallica & Marilyn Manson show at Milton Keynes on July 10th which left his right hand damaged and in plaster and metal pins for some time. This performance would have been sometime in Autumn 1999. Gav King putting in a great show!

The Club With No Name 31/12/99

Club With No Name Peterborough 31/12/99

This was a really intimate gig in front of 400 people absolutely squashed to death in a small back room of a pub “The Boys Head”, it was the 1999 NYE party of Chris Lovell’s “Club With No Name”.

These were very good times. An interesting period for Janus Stark, lots of unreleased tracks being played, lots of guest musicians including Gav King, Andy Hawkins and Matt Biffa!

RPM Oline Review

Check out this review of the two latest Janus Stark CD’s “Rewind To A” and “Chez Wrong” , it’s pretty damn thorough and the guy is really feeling it. The two CD’s are interesting because of the time scale and the stories they tell.

It’s proof that good inspiration can come from periods of optimism and pessimism! The first album recorded 1996-1997 , the second 2001-2002.

CHEZ WRONG – THE LOST JANUS STARK ALBUM T&M 040

When I dug these demos out I couldn’t believe my ears. I liked them a lot more than I remembered. These were the last tracks written for Janus Stark during tough times when we’d split from earache and were shopping for a new label.  Near Extinction came in 2000, Back To Live came in 2002 and during that final session we were looking for a new band name and planning our final tour. Sucksession, Built in Defence Mechanism and Empty Chair are really enjoyable and quite trippy. Near Extinction, Chez Wrong, Paralysed, Suck On These Words and Back To Live are verging on being epics. I hope you enjoy these as much as I have rediscovering and compiling them.

REWIND TO A – THE GREAT ADVENTURE CIGAR DEMOS T&M 039

We were finding our sound and style when we were recording these demo’s.

The song “Clique” was the first written and recorded ,closely followed by “Black Box”. Songs like “Barriers” and “Wedding Bells” were older, with the former turning into a crowd favourite and the latter being dropped. There are a couple of songs that have some Prodigy influences with dance influenced rhythms and extreme sound  effects on the guitar. These were dropped when we realised that they were pulling away from what we were going for. Hearing them now though, they make a very interesting listen. The version of Every Little Thing has an extra verse, Floyd with it’s weird trippy ending  and Stop Gap is a better version than the one officially released . Actually the version of Clique is arguably better than the album version.
